Nora Pobst

Monday, April 18, 2005

CHAFFEE - Eleanora (Nora) Susan Pobst, 97, was given eternal rest on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 31, 1908, in Caney, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Ida Dannenmueller Gosche. She and Matthew Pobst were married April 23, 1929; he died in 1962.

Nora retired in 1972 from Thorngates (formerly Bucksteins) in Chaffee. After her retirement, she filled her time volunteering and helping others. Each Friday, one could find her at the local thrift shop and on Saturdays she was a greeter at the Chaffee General Hospital, up to the time of their closing. Most every day of the week, she was at the Chaffee Nutrition Center, all this after she attended daily Mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

She was also a member of the St. Ambrose Parish, The Daughters of St. Ambrose as well as the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 3127 and the RSVP of Chaffee.

Nora was grateful and appreciated her life. She was a kind, beautiful and thoughtful lady, never complaining. Everyone's needs came before her own. She loved the outdoors, her flowers and the trees. She enjoyed traveling, as she did so with some lady friends whenever she had an opportunity. Nora's strongest love was that of her faith, church and family that our Lord had so richly blessed her with.

Nora is survived by three sons, Clifford (Mary Rose), Mike and Larry (Glenda) Pobst, all of Chaffee; one sister, Wilma Metz of Oran; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Irmina, Corona and Leona; three brothers, John, Zeno and Harold, and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Pobst.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
