Sikeston tennis team posts fifth consecutive shutout

SIKESTON - The Sikeston tennis team posted its fifth straight shutout with a 9-0 victory against Kennett on Thursday.

None of the matches were close as the Bulldogs breezed through the competition.

In singles, Stephen Pobst beat Carter Carter 8-1; Adam Hahs beat Zach LaRock 8-1; Ryne Vickery beat Kyle Rogers 8-0; Peter Jones beat Brandon Burcham 8-2; Marc Leible beat Stephen Rooney 8-1; and Chris Robey beat Matt Collins 8-1.

In doubles, Pobst/Hahs beat Carter/LeRock 8-0; Vickery/Jones beat Rogers/Burcham 8-1; and Leible/Robey beat Rooney/Collins 8-3.

The junior varsity won 9-0 against Kennett. Winners were Aaron Senter, Kyle Weeks, Ben Jones, Kyle Howard, Ryan Davis and Ryan Dukes. Also winning were the doubles teams of Senter/Jones, Weeks/Howard and Davis/Michael LaPlant.

Sikeston's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday in the Poplar Bluff tournament.
