CAPE GIRARDEAU - Gary Douglas Beggs, 66, formerly of Benton, died at 2:05 a.m. July 21, 2005, at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 29, 1939, in Oran, son of Virginia Lee Dunn Beggs of Sikeston and the late W.A. Beggs, he was a farmer and part owner at Ava Associates Inc. in Cape Girardeau. He was also a member of the Lacroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
On Feb. 25, 1958, he married Kathryn "Ann" Ferrell who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two sons, Cameron Ferrell Beggs of Benton and Gary Douglas Beggs Jr. of Blodgett; one daughter, Michelle Lee Scherer of Benton; one sister, Gail Cooper of Blodgett; 12 grandchildren, Megan, Bethany, Whitney, Travis, Heather, Gary Douglas III and Ashton Beggs, Emily and Sarah Scherer, Melissa Riley, Ashley Barnett and Hollis Malone; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Van Pelt and Mackenzie Barnett.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ray Beggs.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Benton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating.
Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley.
Pallbearers will be: Matt Dannenmueller, Keith Barnett, Billy Van Pelt, Kris Oliveira, Travis Beggs, Gary Douglas Beggs III, Ashton Beggs and Hollis Malone.
