SIKESTON - Sgt. William Hahs has arrived in the Hawaiian Islands, he notified Mrs. Hahs in a letter received here Tuesday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Otto Hahs.

BENTON - The Scott County School Board will meet Thursday night at the courthouse to explore possibilities of dividing the county into two school districts. G.K. Patterson, president of the county board, said that a plan has not been submitted to the county board on the division.

SIKESTON - Approximately 80 persons attended the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce meeting which was held at Gaslite Square at noon on Thursday. Dean McElwain of Sikeston spoke to the group on a new project for the Sikeston community while several committee reports were heard. Also, Harper-Lankheit Motor Co. received the Pride Award from the Quality of Life Committee.

SIKESTON - Chris Gregston was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the SEMO Seniors Golf Association. He was presented the scholarship by Bill Priday with the SEMO Seniors. Gregston will be attending Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield this fall.

SIKESTON - The Auxiliary to the Christian Liberty District Association of Southeast Missouri conducted the 48th Annual Session of the Christian Liberty Congress of Christian Education at the Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church Thursday. Guest speaker Dr. Jasper Fullard, president of the Black Health Care Coalition of Kansas City, discussed diabetes and its results if not treated.
