CAHOKIA, Ill. -- Thomas Joyce "Tommy" Bowen, 50, formerly of Lilbourn, Mo., died unexpectedly July 13, 2005, while on a business trip in Hartford, Conn.
Born Jan. 12, 1955, in California, son of the late William R. and Marian Bowen, he was a computer specialist with the federal government, IRS division. Tom had received numerous awards and accolades for his work with the IRS, including special recognition from the White House.
On April 3, 1982, in Lilbourn, he married Sharon "Sherry" Fowler who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two stepsons and a stepdaughter and their families, Chris and Tina Clark and daughters, Morgan and Kaitlyn of St. Louis, Mo., Brandon Clark and daughter, Aryonna of Cahokia and Amber and T.J. Gould and daughter, Sady of Gary, Ind.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mike and Lisa Bowen of Little Elm, Texas, and Bill Bowen Jr. of Doniphan, Mo.; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Frank Brown of Fairview Heights and Kathy and Dan Butler of Charlotte, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Bowen, in 1979 and a sister-in-
law, Rose Bowen in 2004.
Tom loved motorcycles and was an avid Nascar and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Tom was paraplegic whose friendly always upbeat attitude will be much missed by his wife, family, friends, co-workers and his babies (feline pets).
Cremation is being done according to Tom's wishes and his ashes will be given to his wife.
