CHAFFEE - Adella Marie Scheffer, 83, died at 4:16 a.m. March 11, 2002, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 13, 1919, in Sopoka, Okla., daughter of the late Wendelin and Laura Gerst Heisserer, she was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Daughters of St. Ambrose.
On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Lawrence E. Scheffer who preceded her in death on May 8, 1993.
One son, one daughter, one grandson, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: seven sons, Leonard Scheffer, Patrick Scheffer and Marion Scheffer of Chaffee, Fred Scheffer of Hermann, Martin Scheffer of Scott City and Michael Scheffer and Joe Scheffer of Cabot, Ark.; three daughters, Beatrice Mashek of Scott City, Carolyn Crites of Chaffee and Theresa Simpher of New Hamburg; one brother, Herman Heisserer of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Alene Martinez of Oak View, Calif.; and 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where parish prayers are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Mashek, Bill Crites, Bobby Scheffer, Danny Simpher III, Justin Simpher and Jason Scheffer.
