Bank names new president, board member

SIKESTON - Michael G. Marshall is the new community bank president and member of the Board of Directors of the First State Bank and Trust Co. The appointment by the First State Bank Board of Directors was announced Friday.

"I am proud to have Mike accept this position in our Sikeston office," said Gordon Waller, CEO for First State Bank Holding Company. "Mike joined the First State Bank and Trust Company eight years ago, bringing with him 20 years of banking knowledge."

Describing Sikeston as a growing and competitive banking market, Marshall said the atmosphere brings out the best in people, companies and financial institutions. "First State Bank and Trust Company is here in the community to provide the very best in full-service community banking and encourage commercial and small business growth," he said.

The new bank president also praised the staff at the First State Bank and Trust Co.'s Sikeston facility, located at 750 S. Main St. "It is exciting to work with the talented and enthusiastic staff here at First State," Marshall said. "Their strength is their commitment and dedication to the community and their customers."

A graduate of Westminster College with a degree in business administration, Marshall attended the Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University and the Graduate School of Commercial Lending at Oklahoma University.

Currently serving as mayor of Sikeston, Marshall is a member of the SEMO Port Authority Board and the Rotary Club. He is past president of the Sikeston Jaycees and a past president of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce.

His wife, Beth, is a 25-year-teacher with the Sikeston School System and is currently the elementary reading coordinator.

The Marshalls are the parents of two children, Austin, who attended Ol' Miss University, and Catherine, a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The family attends the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.
