SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldog tennis team posted a dominating 9-0 win on the Poplar Bluff Mules on Tuesday at Sikeston High School.

No match was closer than 8-4 as the Bulldogs cruised to the victory.

"We had a nice day to play," said Sikeston head coach Brian James. "We came out ready to play and I thought everybody performed quite well today. It's still early in the season and we haven't had a lot of matches, but we seemed to have improved each time out. And that's what you want to do, build on each match."

In singles, Sikeston had no problems with the Mules. Stephen Pobst beat Nathan Killpack 8-2; Adam Hahs beat Yousef Maiderzaad 8-2; Ryne Vickery beat Jarrett Killpack 8-0; Peter Jones beat Drew Schuermann 8-3; Marc Leible beat Andrew Harper 8-0; and Chris Robey beat Spencer Piland 8-0.

In doubles, Pobst and Hahs beat N. Killpack/Maiderzaad 8-1; Vickery/Jones beat J. Killpack/Harper 8-0; and Leible/Robey beat Schuermann/Piland 8-4.

"I thought all of our singles played well," said James. "We still have work to do on doubles and we have to improve in that area."

Sikeston will host Charleston at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Sikeston's junior varsity winners were Aaron Senter, Ben Jones, Kyle Weeks, Ryan Dukes and Michael LaPlant. Senter/Jones and LaPlant/Dukes both won doubles matches.
