CHAFFEE - Arlie Otis Rister Jr., 72, died at 11:31 p.m. Dec. 15, 2004, at his home.
Born July 7, 1932, in Chaffee, son of the late Arlie and Dora Stidham Rister Sr., he was an engineer for the Frisco Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee before retiring. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chaffee, he was also a member of VFW Post 3127 and a 32nd Degree Mason with Masonic Lodge 615 in Chaffee and a former member of the Chaffee Elks Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
On Oct. 14, 1957, he married Bonnie Mantel who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Rusty Rister and Ron Rister of Chaffee; one daughter, Robin Rister of Chaffee; one brother, Charles "Sonny" Rister of Chaffee; and five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating.
VFW Post 3127 will conduct graveside military rites at Union Park Cemetery.
