SIKESTON - Elbert "Ellis" Hoffine, 70, died Feb. 9, 2005, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
Born Sept. 18, 1934, in Waterloo, Kan., son of Orpha Taber of Wichita, Kan., and the late Claus Hoffine, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blodgett and veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves.
On March 1, 1994, he married Bonnie Young who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Sue Hoffine of St. Louis and Travis and Kristi Hoffine of Cazenovia, Wis.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jan McDaniel of Kansas, Diane and Stan Friesen of Buffalo, N.Y., and Kimberly Habben of Omaha, Neb.; one stepson, Jeff Young of Sikeston; three brothers, Ray Hoffine, Homer Hoffine and Jimmy Hoffine; five sisters, Rita Cummings, Rosemary Woodson, Ruth Ann Bolton, Margie Cramer and Carol Hearne; and 11 grandchildren.
One brother preceded him in death.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Randy Bohannon and the Rev. Harold Norton of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston officiated.
Pallbearers were: Ray Rehder, Dustin Friesen, Mike Henson, Lynell DeWitt, Garry Warner, Jeff Young, Doug Hoffine and Jeff Limbaugh.
Honorary pallbearers were: Colton Young, Ashton Young, Shelly Hoffine, Monica Hoffine, Sophia Hoffine, Heidi Friesen, Courtney Hoffine, Kerrigan Hoffine, Brandon Hoffine and Joshua Habben.
Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
