SALEM - Ada Evelyn Gregory, 101, formerly of Puxico, died May 16, 2004, at the Salem Care Center.
Born Aug. 29, 1902, in Acorn Ridge, daughter of the late K.G. and Ida Bell Baker Pyle, she lived in Stoddard County most of her life and was a member of the Puxico General Baptist Church. She was presented the keys to the City of Salem on her 100th birthday along with a proclamation from the State of Missouri, presented by Rep. Frank Barnitz of the 150th District.
On Nov. 17, 1926, she married Ulis Sterl Gregory who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1969.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Denzil and Betsy Hoxworth Gregory of Pevely and Dawsey L. and Martha Barnes Gregory of Ste. Genevieve; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lois Carpenter of Salem and Mildred and Don Hardin of Hazelwood; and 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Dennis Lee Gregory; and three brothers and seven sisters.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
