EAST PRAIRIE - Eddie Vernon Golightly, 60, died at 3:25 a.m. May 15, 2004, at his home.
Born Nov. 5, 1943, in Ballard County, Ky., son of Lura Mae Harris Golightly Miller of Barlow, Ky., and the late Eugene Golightly, he was a retired carpenter and painter. He was a member of the Dorena Baptist Church.
On Feb. 19, 1961, at Shawneetown, Ill., he married Phyllis Giles who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Kelly Golightly of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Beth and Matt Blumenberg of East Prairie; one brother, Kenny Golightly of Wickliffe, Ky.; two sisters, Nancy Griffin of Kevil, Ky., and Lisa Duckworth of LaCenter, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Josh, Dalton, Colton, Lindsey and Geena.
One brother, William Golightly, preceded him in death.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home with Jon Archie and John Tarter officiating.
Burial followed in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Kevin Brown, Steve Stokes, Hoyt Sutton, Craig Sutton, Chuckie Atkinson and Alan Peterson.
Honorary pallbearers were: Vann Farmer, Ray Hatton, Billy Joe Chance and Victor Ahlfield.
