CHARLESTON - May is University Extension Month in Mississippi County.
County commissioners agreed to make the proclamation during their regular meeting Thursday after being asked by Anthony Ohmes of the University of Missouri Extension to do so.
In other business addressed by commissioners Thursday:
* Mississippi County Library District Board of Directors members Becky Story and Rick Reed were reappointed to new terms after advising commissioners of their interest in continuing to serve.
Current terms for the two expire June 30.
Reed said the Board is going through a transition period with a new director being employed so it is important he and Story remain on the Board to help provide stability.
* A tire roundup for the county will need at least 1,000 tires for pickup to be provided by the Bootheel Solid Waste Management program, according to Commissioner Martin Lucas.
Lucas also advised dealers would not be allowed to participate and that tires must be stacked in a particular manner in order to be eligible for the pickup program.
