SIKESTON - Mrs. O.T. Elder presented piano pupils to persons and friends in a Tuesday recital. Those participating were: Betty Heath, Beverly Reed, Billy Martin, Marcus Williams, Shirley Langston, Edward Woehlecke, Robert Harper, Mary Marshall, Bobby Ray, Barbara Williams, Billy Tomelin, Betty Matthews, Bobby Kessler, Kathy Kindred, Carol Fox, Nadine Fox, Mary O'Conner, Betty Keasler, Eugene Cline, Mary Langford, Lillian Righter, Dorothy Marshall, Jimmy Keasler, Dona Tanner, Marianne Tomelin, Mary Farris and Mary Johnson.

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Among the graduates receiving degrees at the 88th annual commencement from Southeast Missouri State College May 28 were the following Sikeston residents: Larry Allen, Virgie Bean, George Bennett, Paul Boardman, Juanita Donner, Carol Crooks, Jewel Harber, Don Kennett and Margie Schmerbach.

SIKESTON - Despite producing 34 arrests and paying $1,800 in rewards to those offering tips, the Sikeston Crimestoppers program is in danger of dying. In its prime, the program received 5-7 calls per week. Now the monthly expense outweighs the cases solved, and calls have dwindled to nearly nothing.

CHARLESTON - A change in the county's policy of replacing broken vehicle windows alleged to have been caused by rocks "thrown" by county trucks was approved Thursday by the County Commission. County Clerk Junior DeLay advised commissioners of another claim Thursday, which he indicated is the latest in the "ongoing problem. You may want to change our present policy. We really don't know if our truck did it," DeLay commented.
