SIKESTON - The Sikeston Black 10-year-old All-Star team finished its season with seven wins and 10 losses this summer.
The team competed in four tournaments in Sikeston, East Prairie, Bernie and Bloomfield. Their best performance was a second place finish at Bloomfield.
Tyler Selvig led the team in hitting, going 29-for-47 (.617) with 11 doubles, a triple and a grand slam. Nine players on the team hit above .350. The team batting average was .473.
Jordan Williams (.533), Landon Hampton (.500), Jamie Kindle (.511) and Jerome Hatcher (.563) all had great offensive seasons. in only eight at bats, Jason Isaacs recorded seven hits for an .875 average.
Hatcher, Kindle and Hampton led the team in pitching. Tyler Gilliland, Josh Carlyle, Jordan Davis and Isaacs were other pitchers that had good outings.
Team manager Chris Silman said the team improved as the season progressed and each player showed good sportsmanship.
"I would like to thank Tom Williams, Trey Davis and David Selvig for assisting in the coaching efforts," said Silman. "I would also like to thank the parents for the support and sportsmanship they showed throughout the All-Star season."
