SIKESTON - James Dean Martin was honored with a party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Martin Friday on his sixth birthday. SIKESTON - Voters will be asked to go to the various schools of District R-6 today to vote on a proposal for a bond issue of $600,000 to be used to provide badly needed facilities for the city's swiftly expanding school-age population.

SIKESTON - The New You, 208 S. Kingshighway, held its grand opening ceremony Thursday morning. The business will offer health, nutrition and beauty aid products made from herbs and natural products as well as a weight loss program.

NEW MADRID - The 1992 New Madrid County Central Football Homecoming Queen, Jenny Bolen of Sikeston, was crowned Oct. 2 before the football game. Senior maid is Mara Mansfield of New Madrid; junior maid is Sharon Luster of Parma; sophomore maid is Liz Albright of Lilbourn; and freshman maid is Susan Palmer of New Madrid.


SIKESTON - The irony isn't lost on Sikeston coach Todd Bizzell. His junior varsity soccer team produced its first-ever victory this month. Now it is in position to win the jayvee tournament being held in Cape this week. Sikeston won its second straight game 3-1 against Carbondale, Ill., Wednesday. It plays Cape Central today.
