EAST PRAIRIE - Albert Vernon "A.V." Jackson, 87, died Aug. 15, 2007, in Charleston.
Born Dec. 12, 1919, at East Prairie, to the late Charles "Jodie" and Maude Kidd Jackson, he had lived his entire life in Mississippi County. He was educated in East Prairie schools and for most of his life, he was the owner and operator of A.V. Jackson and Sons Trucking.
On March 15, 1941, at West Plains, he married Ruth Jane Vaughn, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: five sons and three daughters-in-law, Howard and Betty Jackson and Kenny Jackson of Sikeston, Albert and Janet Jackson of Grand Rivers, Ky., Jesse Jackson of Greenville, N.C. and Johnny and Denise Jackson of the state of South Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and James Belk of East Prairie; one stepdaughter, Ashley Jackson of Charleston; one brother, Charles Jackson of Dallas; three sisters, Frances Slaten and Ella Moore of Charleston and Evelyn Sanders of Sikeston; and 19 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Augusta Jackson, Joseph Jackson and George Jackson; and two sisters, Tessie Walker and Margaret Wheelen.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jim Malugen, pastor of the First Christian Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Dustin Allen, Jimmy Allen Jr., Jared Jackson, Logan Gilmore, Larry Springer and Jerry Estes.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Scott Jackson and Travis Jackson.
