CANALOU - Larry Lynn Drake, 53, died at 5:14 p.m. May 12, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 30, 1951, at Canalou, son of the late Grover D. and Iris Blankinship Drake, he lived most of his life in Canalou. He was an independent truck driver and a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: two sons, Keith DeWayne Hazel of Sikeston and Larry Lynn Drake Jr. of West Plains; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carrie Horde of West Plains and Christian and Scott Long of West Plains; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gloria and John Chaney of Canalou, Becky and Willie Stafford of Kimberling City and Gladys Drake of Canalou; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Hazel and Cody Hazel of Sikeston and Bethany Drake, Areda Long, Darin Long, Damon Long, Mina Horde, Dionne Horde and Montel Horde of West Plains; and his fiancee, Cindy Brothers of Canalou.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Canalou Baptist Church.
Graveside services with Rev. Dewayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church, and his cousin Jerry Blankinship officiating are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Chapel at Bloomfield. Full military honors conducted by Stoddard County Veterans Honor Guard will follow.
