ESSEX - Virginia Black, 74, died May 26, 2005, of injuries received in an automobile accident, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 17, 1930, in Jerusalem, Ark., daughter of the late Harlan and Mary Rachel Adams Hillis, she was a homemaker and had lived all her life in Essex where she graduated as valedictorian from the Essex High School and was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God Church.
On Dec. 21, 1946, at Piggott, Ark., she married L.B. Black who survives of Essex.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: three daughters, Karen Galloway of Essex, Kay Wooley of Dexter and Kathy Leinenbach of Chesterfield; four brothers, Danny Hillis of Essex, Bruce Hillis and Curtis Hillis of Dexter and Raymond Lister of Loma; and eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. Saturday until time for services at 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Larie Burdine of Essex will officiate.
Burial will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
