Speakout 11/20

Thursday, November 20, 2003

I am tired of reading about farmers getting handouts. People say that farmers get handouts and are rich. This is not true. Farmers get a handout from the government because they work hard to get crops for the United States and when the crops fail, they are reimbursed by the U.S. government. Have you ever thought about that pair of jeans you bought for $85 to $100? A farmer plants cotton and gets barely $85 to $100 for a bale. In the end, the consumer pays this much for a pair of bluejeans. The farmer gets the bottom of the barrel when it comes to money. And think about this: No farmers, no food.

If you want to see communism at work, just watch the Democrats on TV. They are full-fledged communists. They won't put in decent judges. Anything homosexual, abortion - the Democrats are a for it. So wake up, Americans. We're going to have to fight them tooth and nail.

Is there a Website for the Scott County Court?

I came into Morehouse tonight about 4 p.m. from Sikeston and it looked like Morehouse was burning. There was so much smoke in the air (I guess from people burning leaves) and it was scary. I have lung disease and my grandson also has lung problems. I thought it was against the law to burn leaves and stuff like that. I wish people would please bag the leaves instead of burning them because it makes it hard on sick people, especially people with lung problems.

I am an unhealthy woman who was living in the projects of the Sikeston Housing Authority. I was off work on sick leave and got behind on my rent but was trying to catch it up, but they took me to court. But there are people living there smoking dope and selling drugs but they let them stay. I am going to call the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and see what's going on.

I was going to New Madrid on Friday and a car and a SUV were coming from New Madrid. I thank God for those people. They were good drivers and thought fast. A guy almost made me wreck. He was driving a little blue car with a handicap license plate. I hope the police catch him and stop him. I really want to apologize for the other drivers who were headed toward New Madrid.

SpeakOut cannot publish the license plate number, but we, too, are glad a collision was avoided.
