SIKESTON - For the second time since the city went under the city manager form of government, the City Council has reduced the tax rate. At an adjourned session of the council Monday night, the councilmen adopted an ordinance reducing the tax rate by five cents to $1.75 on the $100 valuation.

SIKESTON - Miss Ann Schuchart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schuchart, has been chosen as one of the three majorettes in the Southeast Missouri State College marching band for the coming year.

SIKESTON - During the Scot County Farm Bureau meeting Thursday evening, Suzy Johnson of Vanduser was chosen to be this year's Farm Wives' Hall of Fame award recipient.

ORAN - The first contest for the Oran Fall Festival was for Little Mr. and Miss Oran. Winners of the title were Sarah Lefler and Chadd Cook.
