SIKESTON - Arden Ellise returned Feb. 2 from Lima, Ohio, with a new Pontiac Landau combination hearse-ambulance, the last off the assembly lines for the duration of the war. The vehicle was ordered Nov. 1.

SIKESTON - Five hundred troops of the Second Battle Group of the 140th Infantry of the Missouri National Guard will recreate the military movements of their predecessors. The unit will be under the command of Col. Charles L. Lutz.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education Tuesday afternoon approved, with hesitation, program changes which will result in the loss of four educational programs.

SIKESTON - James Wilder, a 1976 graduate of Sikeston High School, signed autographs at the First National Bank. Wilder was a record-breaking running back at Sikeston, Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College and the University of Missouri.

SIKESTON - Local students will get an inside look at how city government operates by participating in Student Government Day on Friday.The following students will "swap places" with city officials: Ben Johnson, Zach Chambers, Andre Blanks, Samantha Jarrett, Becky Walton, Jessica Felker, Amy Scott, Neil Boyd, Derek Blissett, Robert Culbertson, Lisa Hale, Deryl Gardner, David Ancell, Karen Mallory, Eric Baker, Melanie Grojean, Jennifer Wolfe, Keith McCord, Jason Grubbs, Neil Carr and Liz McCord. Kevin McCord will portray the part of John Q. Public and Jane Q. Public roles will be filled by Christina Standridge, Kristi Curry and Stefanie Arndt.
