SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Former Sikeston Bulldog All-American baseball player Blake DeWitt has overcome a slow start for the Inland Empire 66ers and has been on fire for the past month.
DeWitt is batting .295 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs through 75 games this season. He also has 25 doubles, two triples and 43 runs scored.
On Saturday, DeWitt's three-run home run in the top of the ninth proved to be the game-winner in a 9-8 victory against California League opponent Rancho Cucamonga.
He is batting .395 in his last 10 games for the 66ers with 14 RBIs and six doubles.
Inland Empire is a High-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. DeWitt helped lead the 66ers to a division championship in the first half of the season.
