JEFFERSON CITY - The Sikeston track and field team competed at the Class 3A state meet in Jefferson City on Friday at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

After five events, Sikeston was in fourth place with 13 points.

The meet continued on Saturday. Since there will be no paper on Monday due to Memorial Day, final results will be in Tuesday's paper.

Sikeston had two top performances in the triple jump.

Junior Michael Colon finished second in the state with leap of 44'4 3/4" to become an all-stater in that event for the second year in a row.

Also, senior Andrew Lambert took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 44'3 1/4" to become an all-stater for the first time.

Junior Dale Ham finished 13th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:10.91.

Neither the 4 x 100 or the 4 x 200 meter relay teams qualified for the finals. The 4 x 100 team, consisting of Tori Rose, Colon, Keena Hatcher and Felante Larry finished with the 11th fastest time at 44.88.

The 4 x 200 team just missed qualifying by finishing with the ninth fastest time at 1:32.73.
