SIKESTON - Sue Miller, 72, died at 3 a.m. May 29, 2002, at her home, following an extended illness.

Born July 27, 1929, near East Prairie, daughter of the late Aubrey A. and Myrtle Presson Metheny, she was a 40-year member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sikeston. She earned a bachelor of science and master of arts degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. During her career as an elementary teacher, she taught classes in New Madrid and Mississippi counties for six years and was with Sikeston Public Schools for 28 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association until poor health forced her to limit her activities.

On Dec. 28, 1948, she married Robert G. Miller who survives of the home.

Also surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Miller of Tupelo, Miss., and Rodney and Kelly Miller of Columbia. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, Zachary Miller of Columbia and Kirsten Miller and Kammeron Miller of Tupelo.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Charles Metheny and Jim Metheny of Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Idelle Davis of East Prairie and Beatrice Williams of Sikeston; and 25 nieces and nephews; and two caregivers who were at her side for many months, Darlene Polk and Betty Taylor of Sikeston.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Rick Lasley, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
