NEW MADRID -- Sikeston's wrestling team made quick work of New Madrid County Central on Monday night, beating the Eagles 60-16.
The Bulldogs lost just two individual matches, improving its dual record to 3-2.
"We came off of a pretty good tournament on Saturday, and having to make weight two days later is kind of tough sometimes," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "The guys came out and wrestled hard tonight. I was pleased with our overall effort."
NMCC's Mayon Gates won by forfeit at 103 and Sikeston's Ben Powers won by forfeit at 112. The two wrestled an exhibition match, with Powers winning via pin in 1:10.
In the 125 class, NMCC's Cole Burch beat Cody Ryan by a score of 14-6. At 130, Shawn Cooper won by forfeit. At 135, Kyle Weeks pinned NMCC's Preston Elliot in 40 seconds.
His brother Cody Weeks pinned NMCC's Phillip Decker in 1:10 at 140. Tony Reynolds won by forfeit at 145. In the 152 class, NMCC's Carlos Hill pinned Cullen Looney in 1:20.
At 160, Lance Berry pinned NMCC's Dee Brown in 2:15.
At 171, Scotty Keenan pinned NMCC's Demarkus Allison in 1:43. In the 189 division, Malcolm Williams pinned NMCC's Prentice Willis in 2:36. Andy Croxford and Joe Johnson both won by forfeit in the 215 and heavyweight divisions.
Sikeston's varsity will be back in action today, hosting Cape Central at 6:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs also won Monday's junior varsity match, 36-18. Sikeston winners were Shay May, Zach Casey, Logan White, Matt Knickman, Ryan Dicus, Brandon Hale and Jameson Scott.
