PORTAGEVILLE - Marvin Clayton Gream Sr., 90, died June 11, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born May 14, 1914, in Wappapello, son of the late Albert and Ollie Underwood Gream, he was a member of the Boekerton Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years. He served on the Pemiscot County Soil Conservation Board and Pemiscot County School Board.
On Aug. 28, 1945, in Corinth, Miss., he married Edyth Mae Moffett who preceded him in death on May 26, 1981.
He and Wilda Farris Foster were married June 19, 1984, at Reeves, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Linda Richardson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Patsy Hott of Romney, W.Va.; two sons, Marvin Gream and Ronnie Gream of Portageville; five stepdaughters, Mary Jean Collard of Portageville, Pat Dankenbring of Lincoln, Neb., Shirley Turner of Nixa, Wilma Fick of Linn and Linda Huther of Columbia; two stepsons, Kenny Foster of Linn and Terry Foster of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Clifford Gream of Wardell; 12 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren, including Michael Thacker of Malden, whom he raised; and 18 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Vernon Ray Gream on Jan. 8, 2004; one brother, Noah Gream; two sisters, Nettie McGowan and Ronda Wyatt; one half brother, Harry Womack; and two stepsisters, Jettie Crawford and Alice Perkins.
Services were conducted Sunday at the Boekerton Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Jones and the Rev. Tim Abanathy officiating.
Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jason Lamar, Michael Gream, Michael Thacker, Jimmy Disher, Pete Marshall and Ricky Taylor.
