SIKESTON - Bobby J. Davis, 78, died at 5:13 a.m. March 19, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born March 11, 1926, in Catron, son of the late Sam C. and Edna Reynolds Davis, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for Malone and Hyde before retiring in 1986. A member of Amvets and VFW Post 2659 in Dexter, he was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
On Jan. 2, 1945, in Sikeston, he married Verna Cox who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Joseph Dean Davis of Sikeston; one daughter, Mary Davis of Sikeston; one brother, Wesley Westmoreland of Moline, Ill.; one sister, Dalora Schmittzehe of Dexter; three granddaughters, Julia Davis and Linda Holley of Sikeston and Beth and Lt. Jason Hudson of U.S. Mepcom Naval Base in Great Lakes, Ill.; and seven great-grandchildren, Hailey Morrison, Waylin Martin, Jennifer Holley and Jordan Davis of Sikeston and Ashlyn Hudson, Kelton Hudson and Victoria Hudson of U.S. Mepcom Naval Base.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Alton Davis; and one brother, William "Billy" Davis.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sikeston.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside rites at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
