BERTRAND - Elzie Pemberton, 86, died at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 18, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Feb. 10, 1917, at Biggers, Ark., son of the late Theodore and Mirtie Yancey Pemberton, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bertrand.
On July 18, 1942, he married Elena Mae Hill who preceded him in death on May 21, 1987.
He and SuEffie Hill were married Oct. 22, 1988, at Bertrand and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, David L. and Doris Pemberton and Douglas W. Pemberton of Bertrand and Jerry E. Pemberton of Harlingen, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Florene and Larry Loflin of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Dale Banks of New Boston, Mich., and Terry Banks of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Sue Call of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Sharon Cooper of Deer Park, Texas; one brother, Tom Pemberton of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two sisters, Arvella King of Maryville, Ill., and Wanda Salyer of Anniston; four half brothers, Shirrel Kuykendall of Bloomsdale, Russell Kuykendall of Florissant and Almous Kuykendall and Jay Kuykendall of Warsaw; four half sisters, Shirley Cates of Charleston, Betty Schatte of Advance, Margie Coffer of East Prairie and Linda Rogers of Independence; and nine grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Ralph Pemberton and Leo Pemberton; and three stepbrothers, Audrey Kuykendall, Carman Kuykendall and Harman Kuykendall.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee Fansler will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
