Sikeston track splits

JACKSON - The Sikeston Junior High track and field team split a dual with Jackson on Tuesday at Jackson High School.

The Sikeston 8th grade boys defeated Jackson 73-50 while the Lady Bulldogs fell 104-19.

On the boys side, Sikeston collected 11 first place finishes, including three in the relay events.

Tommie Strong took first in the 100 meter dash, the long jump and ran a leg on the first place 4 x 100 meter relay, which also included Brandon Washington, Dominique McCray and Bryan Branion.

The 4 x 200 meter team of Brandon Wright, Washington, McCray and Branion also placed first as did the 4 x 400 team of Clayton Mayfield, Demetrius Jackson, Wright and Chase Johnson.

Johnson also took first in the 800 meter run. Matt Rushing placed first in the 1600 meter run.

Washington took first in the 200 meter dash. Timmy Hart took first in the triple jump. Justin Deere took first in the pole vault. Tyler Dame took first in the discus.

On the girls side, Sikeston had only one first place finisher, with Laura Atchison taking first in the pole vault.
