Born Nov. 28, 1930, in New Madrid County, son of the late Andrew and Lena Higgerson, he was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of New Madrid Masonic Lodge 429 AF&AM.
His wife, Edna Lee Higgerson, survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Terry Sweet and Cindy and Robby Roberts of Wisner; one son, Alfred Higgerson Jr. of Winnsboro; five brothers, Ralph Higgerson, Russell Higgerson, Mack Higgerson and Howard Higgerson of New Madrid and Cecil Higgerson of Rainville, Ala.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Carol Akins and Norma Jean Higgerson; and one brother, Wesley Higgerson.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Peoples and Webb Manley officiating.
Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
