SIKESTON - Threat, threat, threat. The Bulldogs were threatening for three quarters at Dexter Friday night and then staged a Garrison finish by annexing three touchdowns in short order to win 21-0.

SIKESTON - Paul Jobe, 32 Green Meadows, was sworn in as a new city councilman to fill the unexpired term of the late Col. Harry E. Dudley, at the council meeting. City Clerk John Vaughn performed the ceremony.


CARUTHERSVILLE - Chief of Police H. Edwards, shot in the face by a former mental patient Monday, is recovering at the Hayti Memorial Hospital.

BENTON - Stephen Butcher, who was dismissed from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety Sept. 28, has filed a petition seeking an administrative review in Scott County Circuit Court. The petition asks for a hearing and entering of judgment reversing the city of Sikeston's decision to dismiss Butcher, who held the rank of lieutenant and who was the head of the criminal investigation unit at the time of his dismissal.

SIKESTON - Megan Boyer, the daughter of Phil and Janice Boyer, was elected homecoming queen during Sikeston Senior High School's 1997 homecoming game.
