The UPS Store will take part in recycling foam packing peanuts

Sunday, April 22, 2007

SIKESTON - In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, The UPS Store is encouraging consumers to help protect the environment by bringing in clean, foam packing peanuts of all sizes, shapes and colors for reuse/ recycling. This is part of an ongoing effort by The UPS Store to increase peanut recycling throughout the year.

According to the Plastic Loose Fill Council, an organization founded in 1991 to promote the reuse of polystyrene loose-fill, more than 30 percent of plastic loose-fill is used again. For business centers such as the The UPS Store, that reuse rate can be as high as 50 percent.

"We encourage people to recycle every day, not just on Earth Day," said Keith Renfroe, The UPS Store franchisee. "This is our opportunity to help the environment while providing a convenient solution for the Sikeston community."

For additional information about peanut recycling, consumers can visit the Plastic Loose Fill Council's Web site at www.loosefillpacking.com.

The Sikeston UPS Store is located at 223 N. Main St. behind Walgreens.
