Born April 4, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late August and Anna Bruening Owens, he served in the U.S. Army Engineers during World War II and was owner and operator of Ken Candy Co. for many years. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church.
On July 2, 1950, at Lilbourn, he married Ramona Jeanne Lloyd who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Deborah Hampton and Paula Owens of Sikeston; two sons, David Owens of Festus and Bryan Owens of Draffenville, Ky.; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. A.J. Wollenburg, pastor, officiating.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
