POPLAR BLUFF -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the fifth inning, to only give up the lead in the bottom half and gave up four unearned runs in the seventh.
Trailing 9-3 with two outs in the seventh, NMCC's Dylan Harris doubled a two strike pitch off the centerfield wall and scored on Sean Thomason's double to left.
Clint Tanner's infield hit, Matt Carter's RBI single to right and a walk by Drew Weeks loaded the bases. After a swinging bunt scored a run, the Eagles Landon Lingle made it 9-7 with an RBI single to right. Justin McKinney then scored on a wild pitch while the tying run moved to third. Kyle Marshall took a 3-2 fastball to end the game.
Lingle was 3-for-5. Harris 3-for-4 while Thomason had two hits and drove in a pair. Tanner, Carter and Weeks also had hits.
Poplar Bluff (3-11) scored all four runs in the seventh after Taylor Boles reached on a dropped third strike with two outs that scored a run. Adam Ivie followed with a two-run single and later scored on an error.
NMCC (3-5) travels to Dexter today at 4 p.m.
