VANDUSER - Ronald Burnett and Pfc. Jerry Burnett, sons of Mrs. Antonio Pimetal, will leave soon for their posts in South Vietnam.

SIKESTON - Area children waited in line eagerly to have their faces painted similar to the rodeo clowns on Saturday, in conjunction with Lunch With the Rodeo Clowns event at American Legion Park. The face-paintings were sponsored by the Sikeston Art League, and many children took advantage of the opportunity during the two-hour event.

CHARLESTON - The Charleston City Council recently paid tribute to the late Don Daughhetee, who had served as mayor and councilman several years in addition to other numerous community services. A plaque commemorating those services was presented by Mayor Jackie Whiteside. The plaque was received by: Susan Daughhetee Hart, daughter; Vena Daughhetee, wife; Tom Daughhetee, son; and Andrew Daughhetee, grandson.


SIKESTON - State Senator Jerry Howard congratulates Janie Thurman, ES technician for the Sikeston Division of Employment Security, following her selection as Local Office Employee of the Year for 1995. Ms. Thurman was recognized by the local Job Service Committee and the Missouri Division of Employment Security for her expertise in dealing with the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program as well as her individual approach to helping those in need and her assistance to those seeking training.
