SIKESTON - The public is invited to attend the installation ceremony of two Boy Scout leaders on the Honors Board at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The names of the late Roy Nall, long-time Scoutmaster of Sikeston Troop 43, and Lynn Hasty, Scoutmaster of Troop 59, will be the 31st and 32nd names of volunteers installed on the Honors Board in recognition of outstanding service to youth to the community.
The honors board is located near the Ingram Road entrance to the Recreation Complex. The ceremony will take approximately 15 minutes.
Also being sponsored by the Parks and Recreation, Division, will be the annual Kid's Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to noon May 21 at the Recreation Complex Lake.
The event is open to all youngsters age 15 and under. There is a $1 per child fee with a limit of one fishing pole per child. Each child must provide his or her own fishing pole and bait. Small children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Small children may be assisted by an adult, otherwise children should do their own fishing. Organizers emphasize the event is not for adults.
Children will compete for prizes in two age categories: 11 and under and 11 to 15. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish caught and the most pounds weighed in within a five fish limit in each age group. Also attendance prizes will be given away throughout the morning.
In the event of rain in the morning, the derby will be held from 1-5 p.m. May 21.
