SIKESTON - The Sikeston High School gymnasium will be Sikeston's first teen-town location, according to plans made at a meeting at the high school Monday. There will be 65 students making up the 1944 Sikeston High School graduating class, it was announced Wednesday.

SIKESTON - In an executive chamber meeting of the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, President Ralph Boyer announced that Roy Bone had tendered his resignation effective July 1. Bone will enter the real estate development business with relatives in Colorado Springs, Colo.

NEW MADRID - If it's all the same, Ted Mauk would like any breaks he's due as quickly as possible, thank you. Mauk, who will coach the New Madrid American Legion baseball team in tonight's season opener at Paragould, figures the team will be all right, eventually. "I think we'll definitely be improving because we've got so many kids who are young," he said. "If they don't get better, we're in trouble."

CHARLESTON - Matthew Barnes was named valedictorian at Charleston High School's graduation, conducted Wednesday night. The son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Barnes received a medal for his achievement. Jennifer Dawn Griffin, salutatorian, also received the Marshall Award for being the best all-around female student at CHS. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Griffin. The awards were presented by Joe Forrest, principal.


SIKESTON - Sophomore Jennifer Idleman touched the bar in her final attempt at a 5-foot-2 in the High Jump on Friday. The Bulldogs failed to score any points in the first day at the state track meet.
