SIKESTON - Charlene Smith Baker, 76, died at 10:59 a.m. Dec. 5, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 16, 1927, in Formosa, Ark., daughter of the late Claude and Cora Shipley Smith, she was a machine operator for International Shoe and had been a nurse at the old Sikeston Hospital. She lived in Sikeston most of her life and was of the Baptist belief.
In 1947, at New Madrid, she married Jack Baker who preceded her in death in May 1994.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, James and Gwendolyn Baker of High Ridge; one daughter, Janis Graham of Sikeston; two brothers, Thomas Smith of Coarsegold, Calif., and Bill Smith of Sikeston; three sisters, Gloria McRoberts of Essex, Claudette Howell of Taft, Calif., and Sharon Hart of Essex; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
One brother, Carroll Smith, also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Bill Pennington, pastor of the Taylor General Baptist Church of Essex, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Billy Smith Jr., Bill Smith Sr., Chris Smith, Jim Baker, James Smith and Dick Hart.
