DANVILLE, Ill. - Pauline Plater "Polly" Henry, 94, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Jan. 29, 2004, at the North Logan Health Care Center in Danville, where she had been a resident for eight years.
Born Dec. 26, 1909, in Carbondale, daughter of the late Everett William and Mae Emma Marmaduke Plater, she retired as a sales associate for the Buckner-Ragsdale Store Co.
On Aug. 15, 1929, in Marion County, Miss., she married Herman Closen "Heinie" Henry who preceded her in death in March 1973.
Polly and Heinie enjoyed a wonderful friendship and union together, living in Sikeston where they both were avid golfers, enjoyed quail hunting and vacationing in Florida and in the Ozarks with family and friends. They also enjoyed family get-togethers, especially at Christmas time.
After her retirement, Mrs. Henry moved to Danville to live with her brother, R. Gordon Plater and his wife, Frieda.
Polly is survived by one niece, Deborah A. Plater Baum and three nephews and their wives, William and Gail Marmaduke, Donald Everett and Sharon Plater and Robert Gordon and Sue Plater and their families.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Donald Plater, Billy Plater, Everett Plater and Robert Gordon Plater.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale with the Rev. Ann Champion officiating.
