NEW MADRID - Residents of the New Madrid County R-1 and Portageville School Districts will not know until June the fate of their districts. An arbitration hearing has been requested to decide the boundary lines of the two districts after a vote April 7 was split on the issue.

NEW MADRID - Work crews undertook the task of removing a wall from the old Higgerson School building. The damaged wall was removed in preparation for relocating the former one-room schoolhouse to a site on Mill and Main Streets. The effort is under way to restore the structure for use as a museum.
