WILMINGTON, N.C. - Mildred Lynn Simpson died May 8, 2005, in The Commons at Brightmore.

Born in Blodgett, Mo., June 15, 1921, the daughter of the late Denton Richard and Nora Hensley Lynn, she was a member of Temple Baptist Church for over 40 years and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a buyer for Belk-

Beery Department Store for over 27 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter James Charles Simpson; her daughter, Sandra Simon; and her grandson, Albert Simon III.

Survivors include: her son, Gary J. Simpson and his wife, Libby, of Scotts Hill, N.C.; her daughter, Joyce Carter of Wilmington; a brother, Jerry Lynn and his wife, Evola, of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Christy Carter, Steve Carter, Jennifer Altilio and Brad Simpson; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Kirby, Lauren and Emily.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday in Greenlawn Memorial Park by Dr. James D. Whetstone. Andrews Market Street Chapel was in charge of arrangments.
