SIKESTON - Wilburn Ensor has gone to Gatesville, Texas, to be employed as a draftsman with the Michael Baker Jr. Engineering Co.

SIKESTON - A man-made lake of possibly 40 acres to be built along North Ingram Road west of the Airport Grounds is a plan sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, according to George Kirk.

SIKESTON - The contractor building the overpasses on Interstate 55 and Interstate 57 just east of Sikeston, R.B. Potashnick of Cape Girardeau, is making progress. The overpass on I-57 is well along toward completion; and steel work has been placed in the overpass on I-55. Contracts were let in December 1962.

NEW MADRID - A $3 million bond issue to upgrade schools without a tax increase will be put before New Madrid County R-1 School District voters.

SIKESTON - Lifeguards for the Sikeston Jaycee Municipal Pool are Jennifer Bledsoe, Anna Welton, Judee Williams, Darin Newton, Andy Spence and Jason Green. Rhonda Evans is manager and assistant manager is Jim Spence.

SIKESTON - After a long hard fight in both the Missouri Senate and the House of Representatives, Gov. Mel Carnahan was able to sign his "new " foundation formula into law. What changes will this new formula bring to schools? How will Sikeston Public Schools benefit? How will the new taxes affect businesses? Personal incomes? Superintendent Dr. Robert Buchanan will answer these questions as he addresses members of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce's June 17 luncheon. Buchanan will be joined by Rep. Dennis Ziegenhorn.
