SIKESTON - Sgt. Carmen L. Botter, WAC control tower operator stationed at Dangley Field, Va., with the Army Airways Communications System, has been given official commendation for performance of duties in connection with the Ordinance Exhibit of War Weapons in the Chrysler Building, New York City.

SIKESTON - Sikeston may soon become insect free. The city has ordered a mobile fogging spray unit. It should arrive within three weeks to give residents mosquito relief.

SIKESTON - A ground breaking ceremony for the construction program at Missouri Delta Community Hospital has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday on the hospital grounds. The ceremony will climax the combined efforts of the board of directors, medical staff, hospital personnel and administration and literally hundreds of interested and concerned citizens of the hospital area in their attempt to cause the construction of this needed addition to be accomplished.

SIKESTON - County Road HH was blocked for more than an hour Monday morning due to an accident with a trash truck. According to DPS reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to run off the side of the road and overturn. The driver and another person in the truck sustained minor injuries. The Sikeston Rescue Squad, Department of Public Safety Fire Division and the Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

SIKESTON - Jordan "Jordi" Ferrell of Sikeston was named "Tiny Miss Spring Jubilee" April 16 in Gideon. She was recently named "Little Miss Shamrock" in Portageville and first runner-up in a contest in Caruthersville.
