Pamela A. Fox, 48, of Sikeston, was charged with first degree domestic assault and armed criminal action in the shooting of her husband, William L. Fox, 47.
At approximately 3:50 a.m. Monday, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a 911 call from 815 Innsbruck Lane in Sikeston. Mrs. Fox called and said her husband had been shot accidentally. Upon arrival, officers found William Fox with a single gunshot wound to his head. Scott County Ambulance Service transported him to Missouri Delta Medical Center.
The Sikeston Criminal Investigation Unit investigated the matter. Initially, Mrs. Fox stated the shooting had occurred during an argument where she was trying to get a gun from her husband. It was then that she said she had accidentally shot him. A review of the injury and subsequent interviews with both Mr. and Mrs. Fox led detectives to suspect foul play.
During a Tuesday afternoon interview, detectives confronted Mrs. Fox with inconsistencies in her statement. She then confessed to intentionally shooting her husband while he slept.
After her confession, Louie Recker, New Madrid County prosecuting attorney, filed charges on Mrs. Fox. She was later transferred to the New Madrid County Jail, where she remains with no bond, awaiting her arraignment.
Currently, Fox is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
