WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - Merlin G. Sanders, 65, died Jan. 24, 2005, at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Born July 24, 1939, in Vanduser, Mo., son of the late John G. and Amo Sindle Sanders, he served with the U.S. Navy from 1957-60. A contractor for 40 years, he owned and operated Fantasy Hills Ranch in Delaven. During the summer months he and his wife owned and operated the Kilbourn Inn Motel and their second home is in New River, Ariz.

On Nov. 30, 1980, in Las Vegas, he married Carole A. Liljegren who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Kate Sanders of Lamoore, Calif., and John Sanders and Jim and Amy Sanders of Lake Geneva; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Rene Liljegren of Williams Day, Robert and Deb Liljegren of Lake Geneva and Randall and Lisa Liljegren of Pine River; four sisters, Lorene Dahlke of Sharon, Louise Butler of Sikeston, Mo., Mary Perring of Farmer City, Ill., and Bonnie Morris of Wapella, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and cousins, including Buddy Newton of Sikeston.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Steinke Funeral Home in Lake Geneva where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. David Butler will officiate.

Burial will follow in the East Delavan Cemetery.
