Born June 6, 1929, in Charleston, daughter of the late Gus and Lou Birda Bailey Barnes, she was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County. A member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston, where she served as head of the Kitchen Committee and on the Pastor's Aide Committee, she retired after 37 years as a kindergarten teacher for Charleston Public Schools.
Her husband, Harvey Morris, preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Morris of Cairo, Ill., and Micheal Morris of Sikeston; her stepmother, Alice Barnes; one sister, Sarah Crawford; one brother, Gus Barnes; and four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. Saturday until service time at 4 p.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church. The Rev. J.L. Posey will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
