Berniece Blattel

ORAN - Berniece Edna Blattel, 83, died at 3:05 p.m. May 20, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 3, 1920, in Morley, daughter of the late Jess and Blanche Williams Kirby, she retired as a machine operator for the Oran Hat Factory. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and St. Ann Sodality in Oran.

On May 8, 1943, she married Ray B. Blattel who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Steve Blattel of Kingwood, Texas; two daughters, Margaret Blattel of Oran and Bonita Blattel of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Dixie Urhahn of Benton; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 7:15 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. John Harth officiating.

Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
