SIKESTON - Joe Ray Jr., 56, died July 25, 2004, at his home.
Born Oct. 6, 1947, in Dorena, son of the late Joe Henry and Katie Mae Isom Ray, he graduated from Bell City High School. He served with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War and was awarded two Bronze Stars.
On May 14, 1980, he married Alice R. Adams who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: twin daughters and one son-in-law, Stacy and Ronald Woodson of Lawton, Okla., and Tracy McCauley of Sikeston; one son, Joe Ray III of Sikeston; one brother, Sylvester Ray of Sikeston; three sisters, Olivia Moore and Glendora Ray of Chicago and Josephine Ray of Sikeston; and 13 stepchildren, 53 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 10 a.. Friday until service time at 11 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston. Elder Elisha Pullen, pastor of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ of Kennett, will officiate.
The Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
