Sikeston Standard Democrat: Obituaries: George Savat (05/24/04)

NEW MADRID -- George Bernard Savat, 56, died May 22, 2004, at his home.

Born June 4, 1947, in Conran, son of the late Leonard and Pearl Lovins Savat, he was employed by the City of New Madrid and was a member of the New Madrid Eagles.

On Aug. 16, 1992, he married Aileen Savat who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Melissa Redden of Clarkton; three stepsons, Mark Sizemore, Joe Sizemore and Michael Hutchson of New Madrid; one stepdaughter, Amy Hutchson of New Madrid; four sisters, Rosa Ann Gaddis and Joyce Perkins of Portageville, Barbara Costello of Millington, Tenn., and Shelby Desmore of New Madrid; one brother, James "Pete" Savat of Marston; and three grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. B.J. Baldwin will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery.
